| Period | What is happening |
|---|---|
| June – September | Kharif sowing and monsoon. Prices reflect the previous crop; supply is from stored paddy. |
| October – December | Kharif harvest arrives. New-crop rice becomes available and this is usually the strongest buying window of the year. |
| January – March | Peak availability and peak export activity. Book early — this is when container space tightens, not when rice runs short. |
| April – May | Rabi harvest in some regions; stocks from the main crop carry the market. Older crop firms up, which some buyers prefer. |

Published price commentary is always out of date by the time it is read.
Rice prices move with the crop, the freight market and the export policy of the moment, and none of those hold still long enough for a web page to be useful. If you want current context — where a grade is trading, whether to book now or wait, what freight is doing on your route — ask us directly and you will get a straight answer, including when the answer is that you should wait.
Ask us for current pricing and availability on your grade — we would rather tell you to wait than sell you a bad month.
